CHAIRS MESSAGE

Welcome to the “World economy” program of the Department of Economics of the Ala-Too International University (AIU).  Whether you are a current student, a prospective student or faculty member, a member of the media, or a member of the general public, this web site is designed to provide useful information about our educational program.
The "World economy" program of the Ala-Too International University was opened in 2007. The goal of the program is to teach you how to make the best decisions in a rapidly changing and developing world, to train necessary knowledge and skills to analyze the economic events taking place in our country and on the international arena. The program offers the following basic courses: economics, history of economics, economic policy, international economics, econometrics, the history of economic thought, the basics of business, calculus, statistics, accounting and audit, taxes and taxation, finance and other courses that are part of economic science.
Our students come from many countries and are an integral part of the program.  Our students actively participate in the program’s research agenda as research assistants and co-authors, and in the teaching mission as teaching assistants.  In some other universities, certain faculty members are off limits to some graduate students and do not teach undergraduate classes.  Here at AIU, virtually all faculty members are active in both graduate and undergraduate instruction and in advising students.
The program has a great staff of senior managers and student affairs and business specialists.  Students, faculty, and visitors can all rely on the expertise and wide-ranging experience of these outstanding staff members.
In the coming years, we hope to continue to improve and promote the program, increase and develop our strengths, and expand our academic programs and cooperation with other units in the AIU. On the graduate side, we are increasing the range of career opportunities.  On the undergraduate side, we are developing programs to help our undergraduates compete for leading internships and private and public sector jobs.
It is an exciting time for AIU and the Economics Department.  We hope your involvement with us will be productive and you will stay in touch over the years.

                                                                                                                                                              Sincerely, Kyialbek Akmoldoev PhD
